Going with the Gessners

I've done a lot of thinking and reminiscing these last 24 hours of receiving news that some very dear friends are facing serious health complications. I keep coming back to a quote I've heard over the years penned by Mr. Rogers, "when I was a boy and would see scary things in the news, my mother would say look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." I'm asking you to be a helper, a difference maker to a great family. 

Clay and Nicole Gessner are a husband and wife who are facing lung cancer and an autoimmune disease. I grew up with both of them. Nicole was part of my circle of friends growing up. She was my college roommate the year before I married. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding. She is the best kind of friend anyone could have. Her laugh is contagious and she's always has the prettiest smile when you see her. 

Clay has a sister, Maddie who was also one of my very close friends. There were many weekends and summers spent at 339 Thompson St. Clay would always give us girls a hard time just for being..us. You know, like older brothers do because they're cool and their younger sister's friends are...not. Well, until they are. 

Clay and Nicole married in 2010 and have the sweetest 4 year old daughter, Aria. They are just a family like you and me, needing the help of friends, family, and the community as they face the coming days ahead. 

With that being said, we are running a fundraiser for Clay, Nicole, & Aria to help them with medical and daily living expenses. One dollar from each item sold online will go back to the Gessners. We will run this fundraiser from now until April 1. We will then donate the amount raised to their YouCaring page. Please consider helping this wonderful family.
