When we first started this soap business, my husband and I had dreams for it. Big dreams to grow this business in ways that we didn't know if they would ever come to fruition. Almost four years later, those dreams are here and we are ready to share them with you.
We have always thought it would be beneficial for our small business and the community if we could sell at our local farmer's market. At the start of the new year we were given the opportunity to have a booth at the market on Wednesdays. I have been so giddy with this news that I've had a really hard time keeping it in. I have been busy making soap and then making more soap on top of all that to prepare for the market, to keep the shop stocked, as well as all of our retailers. With this announcement will bring some changes to our shop hours.
Our family business is built around our family. When we started Ole Mill Soap Co 4 years ago it was so I could leave my pursuit of a teaching career to stay at home with our 2 children. Fast forward 4 years now we have 3 children, two of which are in school and have activities outside of school. With no end in site from all of the running around to sporting events and school activities it has become a struggle to maintain regular shop hours. We have seen this "problem" coming so we have been working on restructuring our business to allow you to have access to our soap at many different places including hours in our shop.
My husband and I have decided together that we will keep shop hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I will have the shop open from 12-3 on those days. Then you will be able to find me at the Farmer's Market on Wednesdays in Lewisburg from 9-3. As our children are growing, their activities oftentimes fall on the weekends. We will be open on occasional Saturdays and will announce when that will be in advance.
For those that are local and unable to come during shop hours, we have conveniently placed a "local pick up" option when you check out so you won't need to pay for shipping. You will just need to call or email when you would like to come so I can be sure to be here for you to pick up your order. If shopping online isn't your thing, we encourage you to visit one of the many retail locations that sell our products. We are looking to expand more outside of the Mifflinburg/Lewisburg area but for now you can buy our products at Trutt's Pharmacy, Threading Love, The Olde Loft, Farmhouse Market, Country Cupboard, and the Natural Food & Garden Store on Rt. 45.
We have a little motto at our home where we say "we are living our adventure." We love this little adventure we are on and we are so thankful to be doing what we love and raising our children in an environment that has taught them so many wonderful life lessons. As always, thank you for your patience and understanding, as well as your continued support!
